David Holt: A National Treasure of Folk Music

June 23rd, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Spend a few minutes watching David Holt’s sample video on the Eagles Talent Connection web site and you will see an entertainer, a storyteller, and a tremendous musician. David Holt, a four-time Grammy Award winner, takes the audience’s imagination back to the days of the saw-wagon trains, where the instruments of the banjo, harmonica, bones and jaw harp make the toes tap and the lips grin from ear to ear. With his mountain music and southern folktales, David presents a down-home tribute to traditional American music. His performance goes beyond the ten acoustic instruments as he shares the importance of legacy, mentors and a neighborly appreciation for one another.

In addition to his folk show, David Holt has a feel-good recording career that includes collaborations with Doc Watson, Chet Atkins, and Duane Eddy. David is also no stranger to the highways of television and radio as he hosts public television’s “Folkways,” and the Nashville Network’s “Fire on the Mountain,” as well as “Riverwalk” for Public Radio International.

David Holt, a performer for all generations, is a national treasure for American folk music—so much that his songs and tales from the past twenty years have become a permanent collection of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

If you’re looking for the perfect summer sound to get your feet moving and your hands clapping, David Holt should be at the top of your event-planning list.
